Roasted Pork Shanks
Oh boy do these tasty roasted pork shanks go well with beer...
And they are very easy to make - cooking time is less than 20 minutes only! The only catch is that you will need to marinate them for 24 hours before cooking so that the wonderful marinade, which includes a drop (or two) of brandy, has fully permeated the meat to give it that succulent texture and wholesome flavour.
Ingredients:
1/2kg of Pork Shanks
Marinade:
2 pieces of Spring Onion
1oz of Ginger
3oz of Onion
3oz of Celery
3oz of Carrot
1/2 teaspoon of Red Pepper Powder
1 teaspoon of Five Spices Powder
2 teaspoons of Brandy
1 teaspoon of Salt
2 teaspoons of Sugar
1 teaspoon of Chicken Powder
2 teaspoons of Maggie Sauce
Method:
1) Chop the spring onion, onion, carrot, ginger and celery intro strips.
2) Add the marinade to the pork shanks and set it aside for 24 hours.
3) Using medium-high to high heat, pan fry the pork shanks until golden brown on the outside but half cooked on the inside.
4) Bake the shanks in a pre-heated oven of 200 degrees celsius for 15 minutes.
5) Serve hot with salad or chips.
Tip: The cooking time can be easier to control if the pork shanks are of similar size.
