Infuser oval tong!

Infuser oval tong - supposedly the “classical infuser tong”, I must say upfront that I am easily won over by little gadgets that look fun and nifty. Thus being one who is prone to being drawn in by *fun-looking* objects, the infuser oval tong immediately caught my eye! “ooooohhhh..shiny, I thought to myself… I can use it every day when I make my tea”.
Ah! So naïve! Whilst I have used my infuser oval tong on several occasions now, I have discovered as a tea strainer, sometimes my little infuser tong is very lacking. And as this is its SOLE FUNCTION in life, I’d say that is a bit poor on its behalf. It’s not like my infuser oval tong doesn’t try to strain. Oh no! It puts in 101%! I think it is simply that it was designed based on aesthetics to appeal to people like me, without actually considering that (a) strainers with holes like that inevitably let tea leaves through and (b) strainers that allow tea leaves to pass through defeat the whole purpose of having a tea strainer in the first place.
So what is the solution to this conundrum? I have found the answer! Simply use the infuser oval tong with teas that have LARGE tea leaves or (the lazy option) get use to a small amount of tea leaves at the bottom of your cup! Don’t worry! It won’t hurt you! (or so I keep telling myself). There is of course the 3rd option- to buy a new strainer- but that would be too logical. And besides, despite the pitfall of my infuser oval tong, it is still one nifty piece of equpment!
