Colourful Hundreds & Thousands Cookies

Hundreds and thousands cookies
Hundreds & Thousands Cookies have hundreds and thousands of colours! Not necessarily hundreds and thousands of different colours, but definitely many colours nonetheless. Who said they had to be different colours anyway? Okay, so there are possibly only seven different colours in reality, but there are SO many of them you could almost be tricked into thinking there were really hundreds of colours. Life is so much better with colours! It would be a sad world indeed if it was always to be black and white with a few different shades of grey in between. I wonder what rainbows would look like? Would they even exist?

But back to the cookies! These cookies are very fun! And how could they not be with all those colours! The cookies are fairly light, with a mildly-sweet taste, and despite the minimal amounts of butter still have that buttery home-made biscuit taste which we all love! They’re also very easy to make! It’s like fairy bread meets the cookie man!

Pressing the cookie dough into a plate of hundreds and thousands is definitely easier than sprinkling the hundreds and thousands on top and attempting to press them in. It also avoids the problem of getting rid of all those loose hundreds and thousands which didn’t quite stick when you poured them all over the cookie dough. Don’t worry we’ve all made that mistake at least once.

Hundreds & Thousands Cookies

Ingredients: 60g butter, 1/3 cup caster sugar, 1 egg beaten, ˝ tsp vanilla essence, 1 tsp milk, 2/3 cup self-raising flour, ˝ cup plain flour, 100g hundreds and thousands.

Steps: Preheat the oven to moderate, 180 degree Celsius. Cream the butter by beating with electric beaters/whisk, then add the sugar gradually, beating until light and fluffy. Add the well beaten egg, vanilla and milk then stir well. Add sifted self-raising flour and mix well with a wooden spoon. Gradually mix in the sifted plain flour until it forms a dough.

Put the hundreds and thousands on to a plate. Take a spoonful of dough and roll into a ball, then press down onto the hundreds and thousands. Place onto baking trays lined with baking paper and bake for 8-10 minutes or until lightly golden. (Leave about an inch between each cookie as they do expand quite a bit when they are baked).

Makes 35.
