Cute Victoria sponge heart-shaped cakes
Okay! So now that you’ve gotten your handy dandy silicon heart-shaped muffin trays, its time to bake some fun heart-shaped treats! Not only fun because they aren’t just your regular shaped cupcake! But because you can surprise someone … heck anyone… with some spontaneous love! And who wouldn’t want to be surprised with one of these delicious cakes! Full of sweet spongey goodness! Mmmm… yum!
Victoria sponge heart-shaped cakes!
Ingredients: 225g unsalted butter softened (plus extra for greasing), 225g self-raising flour, 225g caster sugar, 4 eggs, zest of 1 lemon, pink gel-icing and candy hearts to decorate
Steps: Preheat the oven to moderate, 180 degrees Celsius. Grease 2 x 6-hole heart shaped muffin trays with butter.
To make the sponge cake: beat the butter and sugar together using an electric whisk until very light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, beating each one in well before you add the next, then fold in the flour and lemon zest.
Decorate with gel-icing and candy hearts or alternatively dust with icing-sugar.
