Balls of Meaty Fun!

Beef, basil & sun-dried tomato Meatballs
Beef, basil & sun-dried tomato Meatballs
Remember when you were in kindergarten, how you use to go to birthday parties that lasted ONE WHOLE HOUR sometimes even TWO HOURS! (Which seemed like a really long time back then?) And besides the fun of presents, piñatas, ‘pin-the-tail-on-the-donkey’, pass the parcel (wow! They all start with ‘P’) there was always the PARTY FOOD to look forward to! Mini frankfurts, mini sausage rolls, mini pies and mini meatballs! Everything was miniature back then! Well its time to revive the love for the old school party food! Meatballs in particular! They are actually really easy to make and taste really good! The basil and sun-dried tomato make these meatballs taste particularly good! Meatballs are also a great finger food that never fail to be a crowd pleaser!

It is uncertain when exactly meatballs were invented however their presence dates back to ancient times. They were originally made from ground meat mixed with cereal/spice fillers, also known as sausage or forcemeat. So essentially, they have not evolved much! And now, time for today’s random food fact!

Did you know that, originally Italian-America restaurants did not serve meatballs with their spaghetti? The meatballs were added later to satisfy Amerca's hunger for red meat."

Aah! Nothing like random trivia to inspire you to get cooking!
