Bacon & parmesan savoury tart
You know how when you really like something, you want it with everything!? Well, I think I’m still going through my bacon phase, and well this is just one other way to enjoy your bacon! Bacon & parmesan savoury tarts! I’ve noticed the garlic really helps to bring out the flavour of everything else in general! *high five*
I have also observed that somehow when you fry three rashers of bacon, after all the *quality-control-taste-testing*, you’re lucky if you are even left with one rasher of bacon! Darn! Oh well! Who doesn’t love *quality-control-taste-testing * time?
Bacon & parmesan savoury tart
Ingredients: 1 sheet of ready-made puff pastry, 3 rashers of bacon, 4 tbsp vegetable oil, 2 cloves of garlic finely chopped, 50g tomato paste, ˝ cup grated parmesan cheese
Steps: Preheat the oven to 220 degrees Celsius. Using a small bowl (10cm diameter) trace circles in the puff pastry and cut out using a sharp knife. Place the pastry onto baking trays lined with baking paper and set aside.
Add the vegetable oil to a frying pan, and cook the bacon on medium-high heat until brown and crisp (but not black). Leave to cool for 5 minutes then cut roughly into pieces.
Spread the tomato paste onto the centre of the puff pastry. Sprinkle a tsp of garlic onto each circle, then place bacon pieces on the centre. Sprinkle the parmesan cheese on top of the bacon and then bake for 18-20 minutes. Serve hot!
