Bacon & Chives savoury tart
Oh me! Oh my! Delicious! Delicious!! Dijon mustard, bacon and chives really do go well together! Songs have been sung about lesser matches! Which really is a shame for this poor tart, but what can you do.
The only real care you have to take is that since you cook the bacon first, you must ensure you don’t overcook it, in manner of *black and burnt*, otherwise the bacon will only get tougher and blacker when it is being baked in the oven on top of the pastry. However I guess if you like your bacon *black and burnt*, then you’re all set really.
Bacon & Chives savoury tart
Ingredients: 1 sheet of ready-made puff pastry, 4 tbsp Dijon mustard, 3 rashers of bacon, 4 tbsp vegetable oil, 1 bunch of chives, salt and pepper
Steps: Preheat the oven to 220 degrees Celsius. Cut the puff pastry into 4 squares and place on baking trays lined with baking paper. Spread the Dijon mustard onto the centre of the puff pastry.
Add the oil to a medium frying pan, and once the pan is hot, add the bacon and cook on med-high heat until the bacon is brown and crispy. Chop roughly and arrange the bacon onto the pastry. Cut the chives roughly and sprinkle generously onto the bacon. Season with salt and pepper, then bake for 18-25 minutes or until the pastry is golden! Serve hot!
